A Live Korean Culture & Conversation Class

Stop being a Korean learner.
Start becoming a Korean insider.

Why Culture Matters

Situations Korean Learners Often Face

You enter a restaurant.

The staff asks: “몇 분이세요?” (How many people?)
You answer: “한 명이요.” (Just one.)

The staff pauses. “…아.” (Oh...)

Then says carefully:

“죄송한데… 지금 점심시간이라서 저희가 좀 바쁘거든요…”
(I’m really sorry, but it’s lunch time right now…we’re a bit busy.)

Wait… What does that mean?

Did they just say they can't serve one person?

You arrive in Korea.

You smile at everyone you make eye contact with.
Just like you would back home.

Someone is walking behind you,
so you hold the door open from far away.

But they just walk past you.

No smile. No “thank you.”
Just a small nod… or sometimes nothing.

You step into an elevator.
You try to make eye contact.

Everyone looks serious.
No one talks.
The elevator feels strangely quiet.

“Did I do something wrong?”

Or… is this just how things work here?

A Korean friend invites you to their home.

They say: “빈손으로 와.” (Just come. Don’t bring anything.)

So you listen.
You arrive empty-handed.

But when the door opens…
Your friend looks slightly surprised.

Wait.

Was I actually supposed to bring something?

Moments like these happen to many Korean learners.

Not because they don’t understand Korean —
but because culture was never explained.

This is the gap most Korean textbooks leave behind.

Most textbooks teach you how to pass a test.

But they rarely teach you
how to actually live, interact, and belong in Korean society.

My goal in this class is simple.

To give you the cultural instincts (nunchi) and the exact phrases you need
to join real Korean conversations with confidence.

Meet Your Teacher

Hi, I’m Minji,
a Korean teacher who loves helping students learn Korean in a simple and fun way.

Why I Built This Class

“I left the spotlight to find the truth.”

In 2023, my YouTube channel was growing,
and my Zoom classes were doing well.

Most people told me the same thing: "Just keep going. Scale it up."

But I did the opposite.

I stepped back.

I didn’t want to be known only as a content creator.
I wanted to become a real educator.

So I spent the next 2.5 years doing the unfashionable work.

returning to university, teaching offline classes,
meeting hundreds of students one-on-one on platforms like italki

I wanted to answer one question:
Could I still be a great teacher without my subscriber count?

What I discovered changed the way I teach forever.

Students aren’t just struggling with grammar.
They are afraid of making cultural mistakes.

Questions like:

“Is this rude in Korea?”
“How should I react in this situation?”

That’s why I built this curriculum.

To bridge the gap between knowing Korean and living in Korean culture.

Meet Your Cultural Guide

A guide who understands culture, not just vocabulary.

I don’t just teach Korean words.
I help students understand why Koreans think and behave the way they do.

My perspective comes from both academic study and real-life experience.

 Certified Korean History Specialist
(Highest Level)

I explain the cultural background behind everyday Korean behavior.

Taekwondo Black Belt

Years of training taught me the etiquette and discipline embedded in Korean culture.

Global Perspective

Through travel and my podcast
“That’s So Korean”, I’ve learned how to explain Korean culture in ways international learners can easily understand.

The Learning System

Practical Korean for real-world confidence

Instead of long grammar lectures, each class follows a simple structure.

Culture First

We begin with a real cultural topic.

For example:

  • why people are quiet on the subway
  • why neutral colors dominate Korean fashion
  • what gifts people bring to weddings or housewarmings
  • what “friend” really means in Korean culture

We explore not just what happens, but why it happens.

Understanding culture makes real conversations much easier.

The One Sentence Rule

Instead of memorizing dozens of grammar rules,
we focus on one useful sentence pattern each week.

The idea is simple.

First, learn a sentence Koreans actually use.
Then try saying it yourself.
And start using it in situations that are close to your real life.

Of course, we also look at how the pattern works.
But the goal is not just to understand it —
it’s to start using it in real conversations.

High-Touch Personal Feedback

Learning improves when someone actually listens to you.

After each class, you’ll complete a short homework task.
You can choose a basic task or try the extended version.

You might:

  • record your voice
  • create a few sentences using the weekly pattern

Then I send detailed personal feedback
to help you sound more natural in Korean.

The Speaking Session

At the end of the four-week course,
we hold a speaking session.

Students use the patterns they learned
to talk about a real topic.

This is not a test,
but a chance to practice before
speaking with Koreans in real life.

It’s a supportive space where students try,
experiment, and encourage each other.

When you prepare something and say it out loud,
the language stays with you much longer.

Is This For You?

This class might be a great fit if you:

  • want to understand why Koreans behave the way they do
  • want to talk about yourself and your life with more confidence in Korean
  • want to understand the cultural moments behind conversations, shows, and everyday situations
  • want to make small talk with Koreans instead of freezing in conversations
  • feel like you know grammar, but still struggle to actually speak
  • want a safe space to practice Korean without pressure

You don’t have to be perfect.
